Did Edmund think Al was talking about him? al’s Eyes widened, large golden saucers catching the light, and he drew in a sharp breath. Whatever spilled out of his mouth wasn’t likely to help his case, but he didn’t want Edmund thinking — he’d been a child! He’d been misled and lied to by an adult woman who’d manipulated him.
Kala had been young, yes. And certainly Jadis had twisted things to her own advantage, hurting everyone in the process. But she hadn’t been as young as Edmund, and she had been — gleeful.
“Edmund, I know you’ve heard — as much as anyone thrived under Jadis, the panthers did. She was cruel to them. To everyone. But they embraced her. Many of them.”
