Al let it a good natured squawk as Edmund connected with his tail, spinning to swat at the offending paw. He was careful to keep his attention tight on Edmund, his flank covered and ready to attack. This didn’t feel like a fight anymore. It felt like play, like just him and Edmund sparring the way they used to.

Al knew he had to remain focused. So he didn’t wait for Edmund to attack again. He pounced. Who would dare, indeed?

Al couldn’t let this drag out any longer. Edmund was fast and clever, yes. But so was he. And he had the advantage in strength and size. It was time to put it to use.
