Technically, that was a win, though Al took no joy in it. He watched Edmund retreat to human form and turned away, dismissal obvious. Edmund didn't want him, and Al wasn't eager to remain.

Still, the thought of leaving anyone in heat, let alone Edmund, alone and undefended while he slept -- no. Al sighed and curled up outside the tent, guarding the door. In the morning, he'd be gone. And that would finally be the end of things.
