'I'm sure you're dying to get away from here, anyways.' Al froze, staring down at Edmund just as he started to rise. It didn't matter the second half of Edmund's sentence -- he'd started off so petty that Al was shaking with confusion and frustration. It it had been anyone else they'd have earned a smack with a heavy paw, claws in, of course -- not even his brother spoke to him like that.

Just as well he was leaving. Al understood it was difficult being rejected, but he'd never met anyone who insisted on throwing them self at him the way Edmund did. And then he acted like it was Al's fault, for just being consistent. Maybe Edmund was right, maybe he did want to leave sooner.

Al was so full of frustration and indignant rage that he didn't even notice he'd retrieved the sleeping fraught already. He returned to the tent and let it fall from his jaw. "Here." If he sounded terser, even icee than he had before, well -- maybe Edmund would understand that he'd finally crossed a line.
