God, as if Al didn't know. If he were someone else -- if he could be with Edmund, and just move on -- if he were anyone else, gods. But he isn't. He can't. Being with Edmund would destroy him, while Edmund just -- moved on to the next lover, presumably. He wasn't the one tied to his desires.

"Edmund, please, that doesn't help." Al can't sob in this form, but he's sure if he were in human form he'd be a wreck by now. He can't believe that Edmund understands what he's pushing for, that he'd knowingly cut Al this deeply. But at the same time -- he hasn't learned. He hasn't respected every rejection before this, he still pushes, and Al can't bring himself to cut his king off.
