Al hesitated, startled, as Edmund sought him out by scent alone. His king smelled of dark forests and desire, an unmistakable musk that called for Al to bury his teeth in Edmund's neck. He'd already made himself swear to restrain himself. Edmund couldn't know what he was asking for, and any action they took now would only hurt them both when Edmund's mind cleared.

"I know," he said, voice unsteady. He held out a hand to catch Edmund, hold himnat bay. "There's-- they brought devices for you to use. They'll relieve the -- the symptoms."

It wasn't like Al had never dealt with a heat before. But Jadis had kept them in fur for a hundred years. Heat was easier to handle, easier to step away from, in another body. He didn't know what to do, especially not when it was Edmund, and his body, and his mind, keened.
