Al was already warming to Edmund, but seeing the joy in his eyes and recognizing a fellow spirit, at least when it came to reading, that could only hasten things along. In fact, he was compiling a list in his head, smiling slightly at the good-natured ribbing, when Edmund said something that completely threw him out of it. The other world I'm from? How could someone be from more than one world!
Once again, a look of soft concern passed over Al's face. He wasn't the type to judge, and he certainly didn't think that someone who was a little detached from reality (that's the polite way of putting it!) was automatically someone to be feared and avoided. If anything, he wanted to help Edmund.
