Edmund, for his turn, was more than happy to be Alphonse's book-carrier. The prospect of cracking into all those unread volumes made his dark eyes glint almost greedily. He carted them all to their table and dove in as soon as Al did, scanning not just for any familiar geographical places but everything, mentally cataloguing the places and terms he came across. Nothing he recognized, and many things that brought more questions than answers, but some more time in the library (and pestering Al) would no doubt begin to appease his curiosity.
He gave Al a look that was a cross between amusement and exasperation. "No, I believe it's called the Land of Bathtubs and Broomsticks," he snarked, without a trace of ill humour. "But I suppose you could always check under Great Britain, or the British Empire. The capital is London, if you come across that, and the continent it's on is Europe. Oh, and keep your eye out for Narnia or Calormen? That's the other world I'm from."
Edmund was starting to grow reconciled to the idea of staying here for a while, given that there didn't seem to be any physical link between any of these universes. Not from what he could see, and Alphonse had studied quite a bit; surely he would have at least heard of most far-off places by now. As long as there was some sort of time-passage like between England and Narnia, where nobody back home would be worried about him, Edmund was remarkably content to stay here as long as he needed to.
"Are we allowed to check any of these out?" he asked eagerly, pointing to a few of the history books and literature he'd found. "I'd like to keep reading them, just for fun you know. Plus - " He gave Al another little smile. "The rest of the tour can wait till tomorrow, if you'd like. I don't want to wear you out too much."
