Edmund was in for a bit of a rude awakening when he discovered just how highly May and Alphonse were esteemed in Xing, then. No need to double up, oh no. Why, they could have the whole inn gratis, if it came to that. Not that Al would ever accept such an extravagant gesture, but surely they could manage a room for Edmund.

Still very red, Al hurriedly pushed back from his plate, all nervous smiles. If he happened to break contact, his frail legs against Edmund's, at the same time, well... well. "Oh, we can go, I've had plenty!" He didn't know why Edmund made him feel quite so unsettled. At least, not consciously. There was just something about all that sweet intensity that had Alphonse feeling nervous. Shifty. Getting out of the room was sounding better and better.
"Why don't we start with the library?" His favorite place! "We can find something about where you came from..."
