[000] Open Log: Month One

[Logs in this post may take place any time during the first month or so following the Promised Day. Al's symptoms will be extremely severe.



Al is most likely asleep.

If he's not asleep, he will be soon.

When he is awake he is very overloaded and hypersensitive to all sensory stimuli. This means:
- If anything touches his skin, he will be in extreme pain.
- Changes in the light/noise/scent levels will result in extreme pain.
- He's probably in pain, and therefore heavily medicated.

His medications will most likely make him... sleep.

He cannot tolerate any food or liquids well. If you attempt to feed him he will vomit.

Due to the severity of his condition, visitors will likely be restricted to family and those he requests to see. Visitation times will be short.

[Winry hums a soft song that Trisha used to sing to them when they were too wound up to sleep well.]

[Soft kitty warm kitty little ball of fur -- wait, probably not.

But that does make him feel better. Drifting off...]

[Winry keeps humming until she sees Al's asleep, and creeps out of the room.]

[Well... Okay, she'll indulge him. But only because she knows that reading to him will put him to sleep. Next time, she'll bring a proper storybook for bedtime...]

I suppose just one article wouldn't hurt... [She unfolds the paper and begins to read the front page article.] "Lt. General Grumann was officially appointed de facto leader in the wake of Fuhrer President King Bradley's untimely demise..."

[He gives a soft laugh, and reaches forward to absently brush some hair from Al's face, but pulls his hand back. There's still a bit of that old, irrational fear about touching his children. It's a lingering fear, but one he hopes to overcome in the coming days...]

Me too. I'm not going to leave you boys alone anymore. And that's a promise.

Unlike his brother, Al wouldn't flinch from or snarl at his father's touch -- but in this case, any contact would cause him extreme pain. He'd do his best to hide it -- he doesn't want any of his family to know just how bad he feels, it would only make them feel bad -- but he can't stop a small sigh of relief when is father withdraws.

[And Naoto is only aware of that fact after reading the entire paragraph. She gently lays the paper on the bedside table and stands.

Poor Al. So weak and frail, and yet he looks so peaceful... He definitely has a long way to go before he's fully recovered. If only Naoto could do something more to help...

She quietly makes her way to the door and leaves Al to rest. For the time being, she might be more useful elsewhere. There's still another Elric brother who needs checking on.]

[Al's actually awake, for once! Good timing, Eris!

He didn't know she was coming, though, and he wasn't expecting her -- otherwise he'd have tried to find some real clothes, instead of the too-big pajamas Winry had found for him. At least they, and he, were clean -- even if he was still skinny, he looked a lot better than he had before, with his hair brushed and braided.]

Come in.

[He'd finally managed to get the pillows arranged so they could prop up a book, since holding one was too tiring, and he just thinks it's Winry or Naoto, so he doesn't look up.]

[she steps inside carefully, closing the door quietly]

Um. It's me.

[That voice isn't Win, or Naoto or Granny, or even Sensei or Elysia or Mei --

He squeaks, looking up and his eyes going wide. If he could, he'd duck under the covers to hide. As it is, he pushes himself more into a proper sit -- the most movement he's had in days.]

E-eris? [Even if he looks different, the voice is the same. Well, less echo-y.]
